It was with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of Tom Burke on Wednesday morning.
Tom became a member of the club along with his brother Bob shortly after its conception in 1960 and he was always a driving force behind all aspects of the club at Senior and juvenile levels. His name became a household name after the establishment of the Grange International Cross Country which attracted elite athletes from all the world to Fermoy.
In 2020, Tom was the recipient of the Hall of Fame Award at Cork Athletics Award night. A very deserving award that recognised his true devotion, passion and commitment to the sport.
We would like to extend our sympathy to his brother, Bob, his son Martin, his daughter, Majella and to Majella’s husband, Brian O’Connor and their two children, Shannon and Gemma.
